EPA says greenhouse gases are bad
The Environmental Protection Agency announced its findings yesterday that greenhouse gases are, in fact, harmful to public health. The EPA announcement linked greenhouse gas emissions to climate change and climate change to …
- increased drought;
- more heavy downpours and flooding;
- more frequent and intense heat waves and wildfires;
- greater sea level rise;
- more intense storms; and
- harm to water resources, agriculture, wildlife and ecosystems
This comes months after President Obama opened the door for states to set stricter emissions standards by asking the EPA to revisit requests from state’s like California.
Earlier this year, I reported on the progress of the Illinois Clean Cars Act which, if passed, could help Illinois families save more than $1 billion a year at the gas pump.
This is big news for a city that boasts the second-highest transportation-related carbon emissions numbers and one of the most severe asthma problems in the country.
Yep, Chicago could use some cleaner air. There’s no question about it.
